Chris Roughley OAM (1987)
Chris Roughley played most of her career as a versatile pitcher, third base utility. As well as being a talented fielder with a strong throwing arm, she was an incredibly powerful hitter. In a period when there were no enclosed fields, outfielders would often position themselves about 250 feet from the home plate to try and stop home runs. Chris was selected in the Softball NSW team that played in the Inaugural Under 16 National Championship, the Esther Deason Shield. Later that year she was also selected in the NSW Open Women’s team at 14 years of age, the youngest player to do so at that time. Chris Captained the NSW Open Women’s team from 1979 and the Australian Open Women’s team from 1982 - 1983
